Parallel Visions
Neither artist had ever been in the Lubéron. This exhibition by Valérie Morien and Peter Stalder is therefore a shared journey of discovery, in which both painters bring to life their PARALLEL VISIONS in a two-way visual conversation.
Their different styles reveal different personalities: Valérie Morien's art is all about gestural lines and rich rhythms that merely suggest the landscape, while Peter Stalder's more figurative work is constructed around light and shadow.
Visitors can get acquainted with these two very different artists on June 3-16 at the "Salle des Editions" space at the Château de Gordes.

Valérie Morien
Valérie Morien studied at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Beaux-Arts in Paris, after attending painting classes at Cordova School in Boston, Mass. USA.
She took part at the Salon de Mai, the “Corps-Multiplicité” exhibition at Hauts de Belleville and the open studios of the Bastille, amongst many other exhibitions. Her paintings are included in numerous private collections in France and the USA.
Working mostly in acrylics and oils on canvas, Valérie Morien also produces a large number of drawings in black and white using ink on paper. A few years back, she also started creating figures in clay, plaster and bronze, many of which are now found in private collections.
Valérie Morien has also collaborated for many years with Manufacture Zuber, designing wall-paper decors that have been printed and distributed by the company.

Peter Stalder
Peter Stalder is a Swiss-British national who has been living for many years in Switzerland in the beautiful Léman area, an endless source of visual inspiration for his art. He enjoys especially painting en plein air, creating atmospheric scenes that capture the imagination and the heart.
When he’s not out painting, he can be found in his studio in the lakeside town of Nyon, finishing a landscape or working on a portrait commission. Peter often takes part in exhibitions in Switzerland and France. He has also exhibited in London with The Pastel Society and The Royal Society of Portrait Painters.
Peter began training in 2010 in oil painting at The Royal Drawing School and the Heatherley School of Fine Arts in London.
